Monday Night MLB Intel
Cold streaks are the theme tonight, and the model has zeroed in on three hitters scuffling hard enough to make the under the play. Richie Palacios and Cody Bellinger are both walking into the same NYY-TB game well below their norms, while Colson Montgomery over in Cleveland is in the middle of a stretch so rough it barely needs explaining. All three picks live on the same side of the ledger tonight: bet against the bat.

Richie PalaciosNYY @ TB · Tropicana Field8:00 PM ET Palacios is hitting .231 over his last 10 games, a 6-for-26 stretch that still produced 7 RBI but not much in the way of consistent contact. A sub-.250 average over a 10-game sample isn't the profile of a guy you lean on to get a hit every night, and at -125 the market is practically agreeing with the model here. Tonight's matchup is NYY @ TB at Tropicana Field, first pitch 8:00 PM ET, and the projection sits at 0.3 hits against a 0.5 line.
Cody BellingerNYY @ TB · Tropicana Field8:00 PM ET Bellinger's power has shown flashes, 2 homers and 4 RBI over his last 10 games, but the overall line is a .220 average on 9-for-41. That's a lot of empty at-bats mixed in with the thump, and total bases props punish exactly that kind of streakiness. He's in the same NYY-TB game as Palacios tonight at Tropicana Field, and the projection here comes in at 1.1 against a 1.5 line, with the number backed at -160 on Novig.
Colson MontgomeryCWS @ CLE · Progressive Field5:00 PM ET Montgomery is 3-for-33 over his last 10 games, a .091 clip that's about as cold as a hitter can run without getting benched. Three RBI snuck in somewhere along the way, but the bat-to-ball numbers are ugly enough that betting against a base hit feels like the obvious read. CWS visits CLE at Progressive Field tonight at 5:00 PM ET, and the model has him projected for just 0.3 hits against this 0.5 line.
All three plays tonight are built on the same foundation: hitters in genuine slumps over their last 10 games, not just unlucky BABIP dips. When a guy is hitting .091 or .220 over a 10-game window, the under isn't a contrarian lean, it's just following the form.
