Thursday Night MLB Intel
The Rays and Guardians are tied up at a game apiece in the ALCS, a best-of-7 that can't end today either way, while across the country the Dodgers are fighting off elimination down 3-0 to the Brewers. That combination gives us a mixed bag of props, from a light-hitting Rays bat to a Dodgers starter who needs swings and misses just to keep his team's night interesting. Tyler Glasnow's strikeout number stands out as the headline play, but there's real value buried in Tampa Bay's lineup too.

Taylor WallsTB @ CLE · Progressive Field1:00 PM ET Walls is hitting .219 over his last 10 games, a 7-for-32 stretch that isn't doing much to inspire confidence at the plate. The model projects him at 0.3 hits tonight against a line of 0.5, and at -130 that gap is enough to like the under. He's on the road with the Rays in Cleveland tonight.
Tyler GlasnowMIL @ LAD · UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium8:00 PM ET Glasnow's ERA over his last five outings sits at 4.67, not pretty, but the strikeouts have been there regardless: 41 whiffs across those five starts. He's tonight's starting pitcher for a Dodgers team that cannot afford to lose, and the model has him projected for 6.0 strikeouts against a 5.5 line. The swing-and-miss stuff has held up even when the results haven't, and that's the whole case here.
Jonny DeLucaTB @ CLE · Progressive Field1:00 PM ET DeLuca has actually been hot, 14-for-37 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI over his last 10 games, a .378 clip. That makes this one a little counterintuitive, but the model still comes in under the number, projecting 1.0 combined hits, runs and RBIs against a 1.5 line, and at -175 it's backing that projection. Hot streaks don't always translate into two or more combined hits, runs and RBIs in a single game, and that's the gap this price is built on.
The Dodgers are the only team with their season on the line tonight, and that context runs straight through Glasnow's strikeout prop. Everything else on the board comes from the Rays-Guardians side of a series that's even at a game each, where the model has both Tampa Bay bats under their numbers.
