Monday Night MLB Intel
Trevor Story is hitting .385 over his last 10 games and somehow the number I like on him tonight is the under. Bryce Harper's been nearly as hot in the same stretch, and the shape of that prop actually lines up with his form instead of against it. Then there's Shohei Ohtani, who looks nothing like himself right now, and the market is finally pricing that in. Three very different stories tonight, literally in Story's case, and the through-line is just paying attention to what the recent numbers are actually telling you.

Trevor StoryLAA @ BOS · Fenway Park1:35 PM ET Story's been on a nice little run, 15-for-39 with a homer and five RBI over his last 10 games, so this isn't a fade on his form. It's more that racking up 1.5 combined hits, runs and RBI in a single game is a taller order than the batting average alone suggests, especially with only the one home run mixed into that stretch. The model has him projected right at 1.3, just under the number, and at plus money that's a live price for a guy whose production has come more in trickles than floods. Story's swinging it well, but this line asks for a bit more thump than his recent output has actually shown.
Bryce HarperATL @ PHI · Citizens Bank Park1:05 PM ET Harper's slashing .368 over his last 10 games, 14-for-38, with a homer and five RBI in that stretch, and this prop just needs one knock. At -137 you're paying up, but the recent form makes the number feel soft, he's collecting hits at a near-.400 clip and this line only asks him to do it once. The Phillies get Atlanta this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, and Harper's swing has clearly been in rhythm the last week and a half. This is about as straightforward as a prop gets when a hitter's been running this hot.
Shohei OhtaniCIN @ LAD · UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium9:10 PM ET The Ohtani we're seeing right now is a 5-for-39 hitter over his last 10 games, a .128 mark that stands out against everything we know he's capable of. That kind of slump makes multiple total bases in a single night tougher to find, and the projection here sits at 1.2, comfortably in line with an under. Cincinnati's in town for a 9:10 PM ET first pitch, and until Ohtani shows some life at the plate again, betting against the power output feels like the right read. At -130 you're laying a bit, but the recent sample backs it up.
Two of these plays hinge on exactly opposite forms of recent evidence, Story and Harper are both hitting well over their last 10 games, but the props ask different things of them: Story needs to avoid a big multi-stat night, while Harper just needs a single hit. Ohtani's the outlier of the night in the other direction, a cold stretch that makes the under case straightforward on its own.
