Thursday Night MLB Intel
Kauffman Stadium is doing a lot of the heavy lifting on tonight's card, with two Royals-adjacent unders anchoring the board alongside a Brewers bat looking to keep his total bases streak simple. Jac Caglianone's power surge has been legit over the last 10 games, but the model still wants the under on his total bases tonight. Jake Bauers, on the other hand, gets a lean toward the over despite a quiet stretch at the plate. All three of tonight's plays carry EP Scores in the mid-to-high 90s, which is about as clean a signal as this model sends.

Jac CaglianoneMIA @ KC · Kauffman Stadium7:40 PM ET Caglianone has been legitimately productive lately, 13-for-40 (.325) with a homer and 7 RBI over his last 10 games, so this isn't a fade on form. It's a bet that tonight specifically doesn't turn into a multi-base night against Miami at Kauffman Stadium. The projection sits at 1.2 on a 1.5 line, and at -125 that gap is enough to like the under even with a hitter running hot.
Jake BauersMIL @ CHC · Wrigley Field7:15 PM ET Bauers is only 6-for-30 (.200) over his last 10 games, so this isn't a form-based play. It's a matchup and price play against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, where the projection of 0.8 clears the 0.5 line by a fair amount for a guy who does have a homer and 4 RBI mixed into that cold stretch. All he needs is one single to cash it, and at -137 the math still works.
Isaac CollinsMIA @ KC · Kauffman Stadium7:40 PM ET Collins has actually been one of the better bats in this game lately, 9-for-32 (.281) with 4 RBI over his last 10, but the model isn't worried about him piling up hits plus runs tonight against Miami. The projection lands at 1.1 against a 1.5 line, and at -140 that's the kind of gap that makes an under on a productive hitter worth trusting. Sometimes the best plays are on guys swinging it well who just aren't projected to hit this specific number tonight.
Two of tonight's three plays live at Kauffman Stadium for the MIA-KC matchup, and both are unders on players who are actually hitting the ball well right now. That's the interesting wrinkle here: this isn't a card of cold bats getting faded, it's a card where recent production and tonight's specific number just don't line up the way the raw batting averages might suggest.
