Sunday Night MLB Intel
One game on the board tonight, but it's the one everybody's been waiting for. Dodgers-Brewers kicks off the NLCS at American Family Field, and the props worth your attention both live in the same ballpark: a Brewers bat the model thinks gets capped, and a Dodgers arm the model thinks keeps Milwaukee's lineup quiet. Jackson Chourio and Tarik Skubal are the two names carrying tonight's card, and both plays point toward limiting damage rather than chasing fireworks.

Jackson ChourioLAD @ MIL · American Family Field8:00 PM ET Chourio's been doing real damage lately, 11-for-33 over his last 10 games with 2 home runs and 11 RBI, so this isn't a fade on form. It's a bet that tonight, in Game 1 of the series, he settles for a single rather than the extra-base hit that pushes him past this number. The model has him projected at 1.0 total bases against a 1.5 line, and at -156 the number asks you to trust that a hot bat gets a quieter opener.
Tarik SkubalLAD @ MIL · American Family Field8:00 PM ET Skubal gets the ball to open the NLCS, and his last five outings have looked nothing like a pitcher who should be giving up a bunch of hits: 1.95 ERA with 34 strikeouts in that stretch. Facing the Brewers' lineup on the road, the model still has him projected at 4.2 hits allowed against a 4.5 line, meaning even against a quality opponent it expects him to miss enough bats and induce enough soft contact to stay under. At -118, this is a bet on the version of Skubal that's shown up his last five times out.
Both plays here lean the same direction, toward limiting Milwaukee's offense in Game 1. Chourio's a legitimate threat on a heater, and Skubal's a legitimate ace on a run, which makes this less about weak links and more about the model trusting its numbers over the raw matchup intimidation factor.
